NL Music Review: Is Olamide’s ‘Science Students’ A Dope Track Or A Wack One?
It’s no news that the music business is deeply intertwined with hard drugs of all kinds. We have all at some point been entertained or plagued with music which sees artistes opining about the joys or the danger that comes from the intake of these drugs.
In a feverishly cool yet unnecessary attempt at still owning the ‘street’ crown, Olamide, from the title, readily let us know what to expect, it’s basically a song about drugs….in my opinion, finally someone is talking about just how drug abuse is gingerly yet ‘gangsterly’ going way out of control amongst the youths of the country, even as he himself sounded like he was high while voicing.
In his now so comfortable use of basic semi-vulgar lyrics, Olamide did a fine job on this groovy beat amazingly cooked by Yoingjonn and Bbanks, two of his personal in-house beat makers.
The amazing synth and piano soloing at the intro of the tracks welcome you to a masterpiece, except of course, the obvious influence of ‘Shaku Shaku music’s on the beat and the whole song in general, he starts the year with a ‘tempo’ virtually every tom, dick, and Wasiu, will soon be tapping into.
This however, is fine, should we choose to ignore the fact that ‘Baddo’ copied the flow, delivery and even melody of Idowest’s new song ‘Shepeteri’ featuring Slimcase, but again, he is Baddo right, right???
Catchy chorus, good beat, basic lyrics and of course an all relatable vocal, Olamide, is sure starting the year, riding on the right wave.
Overall, We rate this song 6 on a scale of 10. ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
